Following my recent graduation from Université Laval in Quebec City, I was awarded a summer residency at the local artist run center specializing in the promotion and production of contemporary printmaking: Engramme.
My working proposal consisted of making relief prints by using already existent low relief panels, and then combining both silk-screening and mixed media techniques in the finished product. This initial experimentation quickly led to the production of new panels as the width of my usual pieces (1.5 inches) was too much for the Conrad press found on site.
Furthermore, plans to move to Vancouver unfortunately cut my summer studio time short. But luckily, Malaspina Printmakers Society on Granville Island was a welcoming place to continue the work I began several provinces away.
I would like to give special thanks to Diane Fournier, Marie-Andrée Gilbert and Armelle François for their help and support during my short time in the studio spaces of Engramme. I am also indebted to Justin Muir, Ruth Major and Jocelyn Barrable Segal for their warm welcome into the Malaspina team.

En terminant mes études à l’Université Laval en mai dernier, j’ai eu l’heureuse surprise de recevoir une résidence d’été d’Engramme, centre de production en estampe & diffusion en art actuel.
Ma proposition initiale s’agissait de la création d’impressions en relief par l’utilisation de panneaux en contreplaqué déjà existants tout en ajoutant des éléments sérigraphiés et finalement rehaussé par des interventions en médiums mixtes. Les premières expérimentations ont vite nécessitées la production de nouveaux panneaux puisque l’épaisseur de mes pièces habituelles (1.5 pouces) était trop pour la presse Conrad de l’atelier.
De plus, mes plans de déménager à Vancouver ont raccourci mon temps d’atelier chez Engramme. Cependant, je me suis vite diriger chez le Malaspina Printmakers Society de l’île de Granville en arrivant à Vancouver afin de continuer mon projet initial.
J’aimerais donc remercier Diane Fournier, Marie-Andrée Gilbert et Armelle François pour leur aide lors de ma résidence d’été chez Engramme. C’est aussi grâce à Justin Muir, Ruth Major et Jocelyn Barrable Segal que j’ai pu me joindre à l’équipe de la galerie Malaspina afin de poursuivre mon travail.
