Join Project Space for the January Monthly Open Studio presentation of “Loose Agglomerations of Deconstructed Imagery”, a survey of collage publications that appeared during the 2015 Vancouver Art/Book Fair — curated by Stephane Bernard.
“Where and how does collage fit in at a book fair? Not surprisingly, collage as a creative technique has a similar presence in book form as it does on the exhibition circuit: battling for page or wall space along with photography, drawing and painting, with the added competition of literature and critical writing.” — Kolaj #14, p. 14.
The exhibit will bring together original works by Julie Doucet (Montreal), James MacSwain (Halifax) and James Kerr/Scorpion Dagger (Montreal), and several of the books and zines reviewed in the article will be available for purchase including:
fersu by T. Macmillan/H. Noriega/L. Shiveral (Late Cuts and Project Space Press: Vancouver, 2015)
The Adorable Little School of Art of Canada by Julie Doucet (Le Pantalitaire: Montreal, 2014), as well as other recent self-published titles.
Medusa by James MacSwain (Perro Verlag: Mayne Island BC, 2014), as well as other recent tiles produced in collaboration with Jo Cook.
The Capilano Review vol.1 no.1, as well as other issues featuring contemporary collage.
